How to use green paint

Green is the colour of nature – providing a restorative, relaxing ambience, it is an easy to way to reflect the outdoors and create a feeling of space into your home. Lighter, paler greens like Birdsong and Herb Garden are particularly popular all year as they work in most rooms – but darker, deeper greens are also very effective and can create a luxurious, classic dynamic. Here are some of our favourite ways to use green paint.

Green paint in the kitchen

Green is fresh and clean, so a natural choice in the kitchen, reflecting the plants, herbs and vegetables that are used in this space. Forest Bathing and Birdsong are brilliant choices for this room – vibrant and optimistic, they could work really well on the walls or the cupboards if you are looking to refresh an old palette.

Deep green in the cloakroom

If you have a small room like a cloakroom, downstairs loo or bootroom, dark green is a powerful choice and can add depth and make the space feel bigger (also it doesn’t show the dirt, ideal in a boot room!). Frogs at Night is a moody, bluey green that works brilliantly alongside patterned wallpaper, as is Under the Oak Tree, which has a warmer tint and works brilliantly with yellows and oranges.

Upcycling furniture with light greens

As an eco-conscious brand we are huge fans of recycling furniture, and painting chairs or shelves is the most popular (and easy) way to start. Our light green Herb Garden paint is bright and optimistic: perfect for a cottage-core kitchen chair, or a set of shelves in a child’s bedroom. Ensure the wood is well cleaned and sanded first and use a small brush that can get in all the grooves and textures – although a rustic look works well, so don’t worry if it’s not perfect!

Whether your home is modern and minimal or older and more traditional, green is a colour that will provide a fantastic base for your furniture: mid-century wood, florals, whites, brights and metals all bounce brilliantly off the natural backdrop of green, making it one of the most versatile colours to choose, and providing you with a feeling of stylish calm in any space.
